Is Feast free to use, including for commercial catering businesses?
Yes. Feast is free for both personal and commercial projects under the standard uiCookies license, so a working caterer can launch a real business site with it. Attribution is appreciated but there is no paid tier or locked version. What you download is the complete two-page template with all its sections and assets.
Does Feast use jQuery or any plugins?
No. Feast is completely jQuery-free and ships with no third-party plugin dependencies. The menu tabs, dish filter, cost estimator, gallery lightbox, testimonials slider, count-up stats, sticky navbar and form validation are all written in plain vanilla JavaScript, one function per feature. The only bundled library is Bootstrap 5's own JavaScript, used for the responsive mobile menu.
Can I edit the menus, prices and dishes without a build step?
Yes. Feast is a static front-end template, so you edit the HTML directly with no build tool required. Menu items, per-person prices, dietary tags and dish descriptions are plain markup you can change in place. The dot-leader pricing layout and dietary tags are driven by CSS classes, so your edits keep the same polished styling automatically.
How does the quote-request form work?
The form collects event type, event date, guest count, name and email, and validates them in the browser with vanilla JavaScript — flagging empty fields and malformed emails inline. It also shows a live rough-cost estimate by multiplying the guest count by a per-person rate for the chosen event style. Because it is front-end only, no enquiries are sent until you connect the form to your own backend or a form-handling service.
Will my content still show if JavaScript is turned off?
Yes. Feast is built with progressive enhancement, so all content is fully visible without JavaScript. The scroll-in animations only apply once a js class is present, meaning every section, menu panel, dish and gallery item renders at full opacity by default. JavaScript adds the interactivity — tabs, filtering, the lightbox and the estimator — on top of an already-complete page.
Is Feast responsive and accessible?
Yes to both. It is built mobile-first on the Bootstrap 5 grid and adapts from large desktops down to phones, with the navbar collapsing into a working mobile menu. On accessibility it uses semantic landmarks, alt text on every image, ARIA roles on the custom tabs, lightbox and slider, visible focus styles, full keyboard support, and it respects the visitor's reduced-motion preference.
How do I change the colours and fonts?
The whole palette is defined as CSS custom properties at the top of css/style.css — the deep aubergine base, the antique-gold accent and the off-white are all single variables you can recolour in one place. Typography uses Fraunces for display headings and Mulish for body text, loaded from Google Fonts in each page's head; swap those two links and the corresponding font-family variables to restyle the type. No SCSS compilation is required.
What's included in the download, and what do I need to add?
You get two HTML pages (index.html and menus.html), the custom css/style.css design layer, the vanilla js/main.js, and self-hosted copies of Bootstrap 5's CSS and JS bundle. Demo photography is referenced by local paths in the img/ folder, so you replace those with your own optimized food and event images before launch. To take the site live you also connect the quote form to a handler and point the contact links at your real details.
