Startline — Free Student Resume Website Template
Startline is built for the first CV, when education, projects and volunteering carry more weight than a long work history. A sunny yellow, lane blue and running-track coral palette, Bricolage Grotesque headings and Figtree text keep it friendly without looking childish. Recruiters can switch between years of module grades, filter coursework and hackathon projects, and see exactly which months the student is free to start. The CV and cover letter print to A4 or US Letter as a single page each, so the website and the application share one design.

How to use it
Unzip the folder and open index.html in a browser. Replace the fictional student’s details in the three HTML files and the photos in img/ with your own. Module grades are rows in a table, so the chart and averages follow your numbers. Colours and fonts live in the custom properties at the top of css/style.css. Connect the contact form to a form service, then deploy the folder to any static host such as GitHub Pages or Netlify.
Frequently asked questions
Is Startline free for commercial use?
Yes. Startline is free for personal and commercial projects, including a site you build for a client or a careers service. Attribution is optional but always welcome, and the full terms are on the uiCookies license page.
What is Startline built with?
It uses Bootstrap 5.3.8, which is included in the download, plus one stylesheet and one vanilla JavaScript file. There is no jQuery and no other JavaScript library. The fonts are Bricolage Grotesque and Figtree from Google Fonts.
Which pages are included?
There are three pages. The home page holds the hero, about, education with module grades, projects, experience and volunteering, skills and languages, awards, a references note and a contact form. The resume page is a one-page CV set up for printing, and the cover letter page is a matching printable letter.
How do I change the grades, projects and dates?
Each module is a table row with its grade, so the chart and the year average update from your numbers. Projects are cards with a data-type attribute that the filters read. The degree start and end dates sit on the ID card as data attributes, and the progress ring works from them.
I have very little work experience. Will the page look empty?
No. The layout puts education, projects, volunteering and skills first, and the experience timeline is designed for part-time jobs and volunteer roles. Remove any section you do not need; each one is a self-contained block in index.html.
